Application Recommendations
On Bare Wood
- SFO works best on sanded, bare wood without needing an additional topcoat.
- For increased durability and a subtle sheen, consider adding a coat of Natural SFO, which enhances protection without altering the color.
- Application Steps:
- Generously apply SFO to the wood, ensuring even coverage.
- Allow the oil to penetrate for 15 minutes.
- Buff off the excess with a clean cloth.
- For a richer color or more sheen, apply a second coat after 9 hours.
On Painted Surfaces
- Thinly apply SFO over painted surfaces to boost sheen and durability.
- Buff off the excess immediately for a smooth finish.
Special Considerations
While SFO offers a rich and lasting finish, oil-based products may yellow over time, particularly on lighter colors. To prevent this, we recommend using Tough Coat or Ultra Guard, our water-based topcoats, for a crystal-clear, long-lasting finish.
