Application Recommendations

On Bare Wood

• SFO works best on sanded, bare wood without needing an additional topcoat.
• For increased durability and a subtle sheen, consider adding a coat of Natural SFO, which enhances protection without altering the color.
• Application Steps:
  1. Generously apply SFO to the wood, ensuring even coverage.
  2. Allow the oil to penetrate for 15 minutes.
  3. Buff off the excess with a clean cloth.
  4. For a richer color or more sheen, apply a second coat after 9 hours.

On Painted Surfaces

• Thinly apply SFO over painted surfaces to boost sheen and durability.
• Buff off the excess immediately for a smooth finish.

Special Considerations

While SFO offers a rich and lasting finish, oil-based products may yellow over time, particularly on lighter colors. To prevent this, we recommend using Tough Coat or Ultra Guard, our water-based topcoats, for a crystal-clear, long-lasting finish.
