Unlike traditional topcoats, SFO doesn’t sit on the surface as a film. Instead, it penetrates the wood, becoming part of its structure to provide durable protection while enhancing its natural beauty. Thanks to its high pigment concentration, the 8 oz. container offers the same coverage as a 1-litre can of many other stains.
Note: Oil-based products may yellow over time, especially on lighter colors. For these shades, we recommend using Tough Coat or Ultra Guard, our water-based topcoats, to maintain their original tone.
How to Apply SFO on Bare Wood:
Generously apply SFO to sanded wood, ensuring even coverage.
Allow the oil to penetrate for 15 minutes, then buff off any excess.
For richer color or added sheen, apply a second coat after 9 hours. SFO integrates seamlessly with the wood, delivering long-lasting protection without forming a surface film.
How to Apply SFO on Painted Surfaces:
Apply a thin layer of SFO over the painted surface.
Immediately buff off any excess. This will enhance the sheen and improve the durability of your painted finish.
